In 2003, the Club published a catalogue of its renowned collection of art. Union League Club of Chicago Art Collection introduces the public to one of the city’s hidden treasures and provides extensive background on 125 artworks, including biographical information about the artists. This 312-page fully illustrated catalogue features highlights of the Club’s collection and includes an important contribution to the study of patronage in the United States by Neil Harris, Preston and Sterling Morton Professor of American History at the University of Chicago. Marianne Richter, former ULC curator, and Wendy Greenhouse, independent art historian, are the chief authors of the essays on individual works of art. Dean Porter, director emeritus of the Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame, and Eden Juron Pearlman, curator of the Evanston Historical Society, made additional contributions.
